Angry Gas gage trouble

I own a 1993 Dodge Dynasty. It sat in my driveway all summer, needed some brake work done. I got my brakes fixed last week. Since it sat all summer, with only about 1\8 tank of gas, The gage won't work now. I put gas in today, and the gage still says its empty & "low fuel" light stays on. Many have told me that the float may be stuck, but it has'nt changed yet. The car runs fine..just the gage won't do anything. Any suggestions? What if i add heet\gas-antifreeze to help the rust\corrosion that may make the float stuck? Is that an idea?
