Holy hell -- it's a STUPID VIDEOGAME SYSTEM!!

I'm going to go out on a limb here, and announce that I couldn't care less about the Xbox 360 -- as a matter of fact, I don't think there's been a videogame system made that's generally worth a damn since the Dreamcast. Say, what stupid Final Fantasy version are they up to now? How may gigaflops of calculations can the system's GPU push? Is there another empty, mindless GTA game being dumped out for it? Can it clean my toilet and wash my dishes in addition to all the other useless home entertainment-centered, pricetag raising crap packed into it?

And is all this really worth robbing someone for? Apparently. And apparently it's also worth paying thousands of dollars to some shark on Ebay as well.

I don't think Microsoft has any idea how to build a videogame system. I don't think Sony has a creative bone in their bodies when it comes to game licensing. I think Nintendo knows how to build a videogame system, and probably has the second best in-house game design team in the business (behind the late Sega AM2 team, of course) but has neither the might of Microsoft nor the market share of Sony required to get it out there.

The industry is do for another crash -- I just can't believe it's still holding up. How many more wallet-raping systems and half-assed games and gimmicky handhelds can be pushed out into the market before it reaches critical mass? Where are you people getting the time and money for this stuff? And WHY ARE SCUMBAGS ROBBING PEOPLE OVER A STUPID GAME SYSTEM!

I can see yor point that people are spending way to much time and money on something you consider to be useless. I agree that the 360 is overrated and the PS3 will be when it comes out. The only reason you say that Sony and Microsoft are unoriginal is this: they were not first to come up with the video game. Nintendo was the one to really start the craze and they set the example. I will tell you this however, Sony and Microsoft have done more for the buisnes than Nintendo could have ever dreampt of.

I'm getting a gamecube soon, simply because it's low enough in price that I'll pay for it and it's got a lot of titles that I can play with my friends. I'll own an Xbox360 when it's been out for a couple of years and is worth as much as the regular Xbox is now

It gets worse... one of the winning bids on ebay is $12,900.00!!

WTF! I could do a lot better things with near 13 grand.

Here's the real kicker: the systems are reportedly "freezing" after about 40 mins. of gameplay. I don't know what they use in the console as far as a graphics card/chip , but it sounds like its overheating, just like an overworked pc graphics card.

Should always wait a while before getting something that has just come out, so they can work the bugs out. Whether it be Game consoles or cars...

I don't mean to sound sarcastic, but it must be nice to have the time to play video games. I find between work, family, chores (and AF of course) I have no extra time at all.

I bet that it is overheating, just like the problem that is going on in the new slimmer PS2, you cant play it for extended periods of time because it overheats cause of not enough ventilation or space for big fans or enough of them. You can have this happen to your graphics card if you dont put a fan on them. Its kinda like an engine except this just shuts down.

I agree. Nintendo doesn't have cool realistic games like Gran Turismo or any Madden, NBA Live, or Tiger Woods though. you have to give sony credit. Screw microsoft. If anyone knows how to make gaming systems, it's the japanese, not us.

Nintendo has been and always will be devoted to the arcade style and the youth market. I just brought a Gamecube a couple of weeks ago and I'm enjoying it; although my biggest complaint is that they are pushing the Mario Party line too fast.

Sony is doing good so far, but I really don't know the fate of the PS3 until launch

For Microsoft, I don't even have the XBox. Will I get one? Probably not. It somehow doesn't appeal to me. I also feel sorry for those who brought the 360 without the hard drive. Microsoft is a slick sumbitch for pulling that stunt.

As for Sega, they are not completely gone. I bet they will come out of the dark guns blazing with a new system that will definitely Sony and Microsoft's ass again.

Yeah it is a little sad but you're making a big deal out of it. So what if a bunch of nerds want to spend their money on something. Is it really hurting you though?
There are worse things out there, like MTV's show Sweet 16. Spending $350,000 for your kids 16th birthday is nothing to a few grand for a 360. Remember, there will always be people out their with more money than brains and there's nothing we can do about it.

Now for the kid getting ripped and the armed robber, that will hurt you and it's pathetic for a game system.
Remember though, a few years ago a kid got killed in New York City because he had the latest pair of Air Jordans and a couple of guys wanted them.

What's worse, stealing almost $1,000 worth of computer hardware, or killing somebody for some shoes?

P.S. As for the 360 freezing up after 40 minutes, I think it's a rumor or has only happened to a few people. I've played my 360 for almost 5 hours without anything happening and it running good and strong.

A fool and his money are soon parted...people with too much money never know what to do with it...oddly enough, when it comes to paying for services, those that have money are often the cheapest tippers in my experience, while those that don't have as much are willing to dig a little deeper to reward good service.

Sega was always ahead of it's time... do you remember the GameGear? Just recently a handheld system came out that could rival that(PSP).

All Microsoft did was try and jump the gun to get the first sells. The only people buying the 360 are the die-hard XBoxers and the kids, umm...adults, who need something to kill time before the PS3 comes out. Sony will undoubtably go back seeing what problems occur with the 360 and ensure they dont with theirs. Sony will continue to rein as champ of the consoles.
