alright selling a bad car and want a new one, but an audi

yeah i am wanting to buy an audi for the past two years. i am goin to sell my piece of S@!% car and go for an audi. But my father say it is goin to be a bitch, parts are hard to get and pricey. An my cous told me his friend had an 1.8t quartto and when installed the chip his coils blowed on him. so i am wondering if i should get an A4 1.8t quartto 1996 to 1998, sliver and black, help me and tell that it is not that bad please.

Re: alright selling a bad car and want a new one, but an audi

parts arent hard to find, just real pricey. all german parts are. if you want a 1.8T there are no 96's so itd have to be a 97 or 98. and as far as a chip goes, it might blow something if you push it hard enough. it just may be that the guy was driving his car hard after he got the chip. i havent heard anything about chips doing too much damage, but im not an expert on chips. also, keep in mind, anytime someone talks about a car, unless they are the firsthand witness of something, it tends to be distorted a little. just throwing that out there.

there were alot of defective coil packs in 00-up 1.8t's... so I think that was probably just a coincidence... i've got a stage 3 a4 and have really had no mechanical issues (knock on wood).. parts are a little pricey, but not horrible..its the labor that gets you..stuff isnt necessarily difficult, its just alot of bs labor to get to... pretty much anything needed to be relaced on the front of the engine, causes you to have to pull the front end of the car off...stuff like that..so if you can work on the car yourself, its not really a big deal..
