Lights in the vents

Anyone think this would even look attractive? Of course i'd have to hook them up to a switch, cause it is illegal and might be annoying at times, but do they even make good enough lights to handle the heat coming out and how hard would the wiring be for this?

Anyone seen/done this?

Re: Lights in the vents

Of course they would be LEDS, lol :P Why go with anything else? I don't know thou, i'd have to have them somewhat back or they would be irritating while driving at night and i'm still wondering if they make bulbs and wires that can keep up with the heat and not fuck up on me.

Re: Lights in the vents

i had some in my car for a while. It was pretty neat. just make sure you use good wires techs. like don't use black tape. the heat in the vents will affect black tape.

Re: Lights in the vents

you could mount them back in the vents a bit and then the would glow but not be too bright

How exactly did you hook them up and did you have to order anything special because of the heat or anything? Thanks in advance.

Re: Lights in the vents

it would be easier to install them by drilling holes small enough to poke the leds into from the outside of the tubing the mount there using epoxy

Re: Lights in the vents

yea i drilled a little hole and put the led in and use clear sealant to hold it all in. Don't use a glue at all it will just screw up. but it looked good for a while.

I would drill them on top of the heater vents under the dash pad. When you take the dash pad off you will see 4 black tubes that the air flows through. They are just plastic, so drilling won't be a problem.

Re: Lights in the vents

The 4 tubes end at the vent, or go past the vents? And if you put LEDs in the tubes, wouldn't it not allow air-flow?

Re: Lights in the vents

that would be sweet looking just make sure it isn't stupid color and if your gonna do it i suggest putting it in every vent i have seen both and it looks pretty bad if you only put the lights in a couple vents

The tubes end at the vents and go back through the dash. The tubes are big and a little led won't hurt the air flow.
