I too have the 1537 code, but I tested the rear actuator with my Mightyvac and it actuated. The front actuator did not move with vacuum applied, yet moved freely when I pushed it w/pliers. Question:isnt 1537 stating that the "rear" (closest to the firewall) imrc is bad? It would seem to me that my front one is bad, based on what I have tried. What do you guys think? Also if I have to replace the front imrc can I get it w/o taking off the black air plenum/manifold? Thanks in advance...

P1537 is the front imrc. I don't know what year your van is , but on a 96-98 , 1st , disconnect the neg. cable from battery, then you remove the alternator to replace it. Make sure you buy a new clip to connect it to the runner. and put a rag under where you are installing the clip since it is very easy to drop it.
Overall a fairly easy job. Good Luck |

Re: Code 1537 Bank 1 IMRC question
I wonder if someone at some time switched the plugs between the 2....
Bank #1 is the REAR.....Way to remember (I keep forgetting) is that Bank #1 is the bank that contains cylinder #1....which is on the back passenger side of the engine. |

Re: Code 1537 Bank 1 IMRC question
That's what I thought. After testing both actuators I found the forward one -bank 2- not retracting with vacuum applied. I dont know if it is possible to switch the wiring, but the code definitely came up as 1537. What do you think?
