You need to drop the knee bolster, the remove the 2 15mm nuts on the column bracket, allow the column to rest on your seat, you can than move the trim panel out of the way.

Yes it's welded to the column, on each end of the bracket is a 15mm nut, remove those nuts and drop the column!

Re: removing factory radio help

the bolts are stationary, the nuts aren't, once you remove the nuts, if the column doesn't fall, simply put weight on top of the steering wheel and it will drop

Re: removing factory radio help

yes, the knee bolster is under the steering wheel... I don't have a pic of it but it sounds like you've got the nuts off the correct area. Once the nuts are off the brackets, the only thing that could be holding it up is the knee bolster. Use a t30 torx bit to remove the front screws and a 7mm to drop the lower panels, that will drop the steering wheel enough.

Here is a pic at least with an arrow pointing to the knee bolster

Tried to tell ya, drop the knee bolster and lay the steering wheel in the seat...How the hell did you get the bracket nuts off the steering column without removing that!?
