Hazard lamps will not turn off

Recently I turned my hazard lamps on while parked, and now they will not shut off unless I disconnect the battery. Please help!!??

I have this problem with my '83 320i and for me it was just the button on the dash that couldn't stay in the off position anymore. What I did to solve this was to wedge some tooth picks into the cracks around the button so that it stays in the off position.
