this seems to be a common problem amongst cirrus's. own own cirrus did this. i still havent heard a definite answer as to why it happens.

I just brought my car in on Tuesday for this very same problem. My mechanic diagnosed my problem as being the "Oil pressure sending unit" and also referred to this part as a switch and stated that it had been leaking oil. The part was only $17.25 and my car was in and out in a matter of 2 hours.

He explained that there was in fact nothing wrong with my oil pressure, it was just the sending unit sending a faulty signal. I wouldn't take a chance on it though. Of course, today it began blinking again while I idled at a stop light. I'm not quite as freaked out, realizing what the problem most likely is, and will have it back in on Monday morning.

Re: Oil Check light flickers on/off when i brake/in idle

I went thru the same drill, replaced oil pressure sensor. The oil pressure light would go out if I placed the tx in neutral when stopped because the idle would increase slightly. The low oil pressure reading was coming on due to sub-idle rpm. I increased the idle slightly using the set screw on the throttle body, cleaned the throttle body, and the problem is gone.

i had the same problem when i bought my 95 !!! it is preety tipical!! as long as you got oil then odds are it is the sending unit! there not very exspensive i beleive i paid approx. 18 dollars and about 20 min. installing! all you have to do is remove oil filter it is rite beside it and it gives you a good reason to change your oil at the same time all in all it costs about 35. dollars forgot to mention this is on the 2.5 v6 but shouldnt be to much diff. if its the 2.4 4cyl
