High Idle

My friend has an older legacy wagon, not sure what year or how many miles. It is a manual trans. It has been idling high lately and when he puts it into gear it revs up really high and stays there. Any idea what the problem could be?

Better ask the computer what it thinks. Get over to the Legacy777 home page:

http://www.surrealmirage.com/subaru/subaru.html

click on 'notes and tips', then on 'engine related' for the procedure.

Sounds like the IAC (idle air controller) may need Prozac.
