2000 Windstar speaker repair

I need to replace a front speaker on my 2000 Windstar. Can anyone tell me how to remove the door panel?

Thanks for your help.

Most are fairly easy to remove, held on by plastic grips (grip-clips, I call them) If you don't have a removal tool, a flat blade screw driver, or stiff putty knife will work. Insert it between the panel and the door and start prying out a little until you can shine a flashlight between the panels. If you are between these clips, then move the blade as close to the clip as possible and keep prying until it pops out. Sometimes this will destroy the clip, but you can get replacements at any auto parts store. Keep working around the edge of the panel until all of the clips are out. There wil probably be some screws holding the arm rest in place that have to be removed. and if you have manual windows, the crank will have to be removed as well. I'm not sure exactly with the Windstar, but every other vehicle that I've had the door panel off has about the same setup. You can't go wrong, though, with getting yourself a Haynes or Chilton manual for your year. They have procedures for stuff like this.

-Remove the electrical switches and disconnect.
-Remove the door handle escutcheon.
-Remove the mirror access cover, should be able to pull down and away.
-There are 5 screws to remove, 2 at the door handle, 2 at the bottom corners, and 1 where the mirror access cover was removed.
-Remove the door panel by lifting up then away.

I posted pictures on door panel removal in my pictures at http://community.webshots.com/album/201931518cScpNK

It is a '96....but should be similar.
For replacement speakers.....try www.crutchfield.com They have vehicle specific guides that will tell you what speakers will be a direct fit replacement.

The door panel removal is very easy....

Thanks for your reply. All replies were helpful. As it turns out. My 2000 Windstar does not have the clips, just screws. So, it was a breeze. I purchased replacement speakers for Crutchfield as suggest by another responder. That was a breeze too. Great instructions and service. 30 minutes and everything was back in place.

I appreciate your help.

I replaced my speakers today with the ones I ordered from Cruthcfield. It was a breeze to remove the panel and install the speakers.

Your website pictures were helpful too. It gave me some confidence to do this and I'm sure I save some money.

Thanks for you help and suggestions.
