2000 GTP dash electrical issue.

I just found this site today. Already y'all have helped me with my MAF (2 bad ones from Advance from A1 Cardone, was starting to think something else was taking them out), ordered a new (NOT refurbished) one today, and then with my dimming HUD (after a few scratches, and a LOT of cussing, the cold solder joints are fixed and it's working great!). I want to thank y'all for these.

Now, onto the other problem I've got. The display in my radio (it's the Bose system they put in the Daytona Pace Car edition) has in the past gotten a little screwy. By this, I mean that some of the segments in the digits would intermittantly not light up. Once one or more would go out, they would stay out until the next time I shut the car off, then restarted it, and then they would be fine for a while longer.

About 2 weeks ago, they all just went blank, and haven't come back on since. Now I searched the board, and found reference to some sort of "back lighting" bulb, but I really don't think this is the issue, as they seem like amber LEDs more than a backlit LCD. And at the same time that they went dark, the LED in the fog lamp switch quit coming on when the headlights are on (but the fog lights still work fine).

Is there anything common between these 2 LEDs, or do I have two seperate issues?

Any thoughts?

The car is a 2000 GTP Pace Car edition with about 120,000 miles on it.

I feel your pain, mine did the same thing.

As I understand it the problem is quite common with these cars. Mine is a 2000 GTP 2dr coupe with 134,000 miles. Thank god the HUD has the radio display, if it only had the clock in it I wouldn't care at all!

The answer I got here was that the radio unit needed to be replaced.

If you get any less costly ideas let me know.

i have the same prob in my 98 gtp. it seems the lights on the dash dont really have that long of a life. the lights to my HUD switch are gone the one for the drivers side heater knob is out and the left side steering wheel radio control knob light is out. basicaly ive heard the only way to get the lights back is to replace the circuit board or the whole part. unless anyone knows where to buy the lights at it seems alot of grand prixs have the light issue.
