Unhappy CHECK ENGINE LIGHT (again)

Help/advice needed!!!!
a little history first... I bought this Uk model 1998 citation lwb (7 seater) 3.0td dohc about 4 mnths ago paid over the odds (£8000)as i was informed it has only just had a brand new engine fitted by isuzu service recepts agree with this its done about 2k since the change 1 k that ive done myself.
2 weeks ago the check engine light came on so i pulled up as soon as i could checked the obvious all seemed fine started up again about 2/3 mins after light had gone off mins later came back on but went out on its own.since then ive noticed its a little chuggy to say the least just like my petrol car was when it was miss fireing.. now as i havent had long called the grage i bought from he said wont be coverd by warreenty unless i can prove its mechanical failure but he carnt plug in as his gear doesnt read isuzu now since last sunday ive done an oil change/desiel filter change/air filter change and all seemed fine kept a check on oil level as there didnt seem to be alot in there even thou it was showing plenty nr on max however today being the first day ive filled up with fuel since last time it happend check engine light has been on and off most of the day my problem is not just the lights coming on telling me i have a prob its also finding a garage nr enough to me that can plug a meter in to check is there anything i should be checking before i use/drive it anywhere to get it checked out???please help as if this begger goes on me big time there aint gonna be no way i would afford to put it right...

Sorry Jay! We see little on turbo diesels. Most of us would love to have'em in the states, but for many areas like lovely New York State , you cant get a passenger vehicle diesel (new anyway). Only light/heavy/commercial trucks, busses, etc. Is your's OBDII compliant? If so, a code reader will help and can be had for $40US
