Please help! WHEN I TURN THE WHEEL IT KNOCKS
I have a 2001 Lincoln Ls and recently my car's steering knocks and sometimes it almost impossible to turn unless I give the car some gas. At first it knocked when i turned to the left now it knocks either way. PLEASE HELP ME, I've only had this car a year.

Re: Please help! WHEN I TURN THE WHEEL IT KNOCKS
Could be the bearings in the column or the power assist. Given the throttle relationship, I'd suspect you are either low on PS fluid or have a faulty pump.
The knock ~may~ be completly unrelated. There was a TSB several years ago about "clicking" steering columns that had something to do with bearing endplay in the column.

Technical Service Bulletin. It's basically, a heads-up from corporate engineering sent out to all service departments. It lets them know there is a known problem and gives symptoms with solutions.
They are there to help speed diagnosis and correction.
