Disabling Supercharger
With winter approaching I was thinking how useless having 12lbs of boost is going to be. I was wondering if there was a safe way to disable the boost from kicking in. Maybe adjusting the bypass valve all the way out so it doesnt kick in until further into the throttle? Not a question people usually ask but it would be nice to have the gas mileage of a N/A Grand Prix-at least for the winter when i dont need the extra hp anyhow.

Re: Disabling Supercharger
couldn't you just not hit the gas as hard? Dunno about that as I don't have a supercharger.

Re: Disabling Supercharger
Take off the belt. If your gonna mess w/ the bypass valve you would still be putting wear and tear on the blower by spinning it. Take the belt off, its the best option.

Re: Disabling Supercharger
Ripn12s is right. Removing the belt is the simplest way to disable it but I bet the first time you go to pass another car you will decide to put it back on in a hurry.

Re: Disabling Supercharger
If you are running 12 psi of boost, I'm assuming it's not a stock SC pulley, so why not consider putting a 3.8 back on for the winter. Problem solved and you will still have the potential of your supercharger and no loss of fuel economy. And if you do not have a modular pulley system think about getting one for future consideration. Good luck!
