Light Bulb For Headlights.

I am thinking about getting new headlights for my 97 Bravada. I was wondering if these will work or if anyone had tried them in their vehicle before.

The light bulb: Blue 9006
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...MEWA%3AIT&rd=1

The 4x6 Diamond Back Headlight conversion:
http://www.slickcar.com/productdetai...ProductID=1031

Also I see that the bulbs are listed as "8500K H.I.D." What exactly does the number mean? I guesssed that the higher the number the brighter the light?

Thanks for any info.

Re: Light Bulb For Headlights.

No, do not get those. 8,500K is a color rating, and actually the brightest light available in automotive lighting is HID, which is 4,300K. And do NOT get the APC conversion, I got them for my Dad once and took them back the next day, the output is horrible! If you just want a simple halogen conversion, get some E-Code conversion 4x6 headlights from a seller named riimc I believe off of ebay, and some high-output philips bulbs, or even some silverstars, or get an upgraded headlight harness and some high-powered bulbs.

Thanks for the help SC. I didn't know that diamond back headlights had poor output. Being that they are common on most new vewhicles I figured it would be a better choice than my factory lights.

I will look into the headlights and bulbs you listed. Are the Phillips bulbs white/blue in color like HID lights?

Re: Light Bulb For Headlights.

No the philips ones are just extended life ones with a bit higher output. Try you find some HIR bulbs on ebay or some Osram Silverstars. The Sylvania ones are sweet, but the Osram ones are a bit better and sole only over in Europe, so check on ebay for them. Also check the conversion lights I spoke about from ebay, if you cant find them, IM me on SComp23.

Re: Light Bulb For Headlights.

Yes Sir, get the ones with the clear lens not the fluted ones, the first link you posted. I bought these for my Dad and was very pleased with the output, you will notice a huge difference in the output!

I have them installed in my low and my high beams (9005) and I absolutely love them.

BlazerLT, are you refering to the bulbs or the bulbs and headlight?

I contacted the e-bay seller about the lights that SC recomended but he only carries them for the 91-94 Bravada. It looks like i may be outta luck. The link ot those is below.

BlazerLT is refering to the bulbs. As for your car. You have a 97 Bravada and you just need to replace the bulbs as well. Unless your looking at replacing your whole light assembly. As for me. Those diamond backs are just what I'm looking for. Thanks SComp23 for the Links.

Re: Light Bulb For Headlights.

The 97 Bravada has composite headlights don't they? I didn't think they had the 200mm sealed beams. If that is the case search for some clear reflector composites for the Bravada. Also, those are the lights I was speaking of, I bought a pair for my Dad and a pair for my brother, the beam pattern is perfect and a huge improvement over the sealed beams, you will not be dissapointed!

My Bravada does have composite headlights. I could not find any clear reflector headlights but, I think just chaning my bulbs to a brighter white light as opposed to OEM bulbs should help a lot. I think I am going to go with the Sylvania SilverStar bulbs as they seem to be a popular choice like you said.

Would a xenon bulb be better yet? I saw some 9005 xenon in the store that were only about $13 each.

Re: Light Bulb For Headlights.

just install the bulbs and you will be fine.

Just as a hint, I would keep the stock high beams and only replace the low beams.

Re: Light Bulb For Headlights.

Any bulb with a blue coating will actually be worse than a regular halogen. If they are Xenon and are clear, then yes go with those, if not, go with the Silverstars.
