help with my 92 ka-t project!!
ok so i have a 92 coupe as some of you know and im planning a custom tubo build up on the ka. Question is, what downpipes are available in 3" size that will bolt to a t25 flange. Also it needs to have the proper exhaust fittings (ie 02 sensors). I see all sorts of turbo downpipes but they all say sr20 only, and only ka pipes i see are for n/a. Any help someone can provide would be great

Re: help with my 92 ka-t project!!
where are you getting your manifold from? Are you running an external, or internal type turbocharger? I would say either buy one from wherever your getting your manifold, or weld up your own and put in the O2 bung..

Re: help with my 92 ka-t project!!
There are so many KA manifolds out there that you'll prolly need to have one custom made by an exhaust shop.

hmmm....
Depending on the type of manifold.....You should be able to straight up use an SR DP.

Re: help with my 92 ka-t project!!
ssac off of ebay has a ka24de exahsut sys, full turbo back, its from the turbo elbow for a t-25 to downpipe, cat, catback ect. the whole thing is only like 550+shipping, not bad for a full turbo back.
as for downpipe, for the ka24de motor i dont think anyone has a 3" downpipe for a t25 for sale it has to be fab. but then agian why would you want a 3" if you are running a t25 you would want some backpressure. im gona run a t04e so i need a 3" the t25 is a tiny turbo esp. for a 2.4l motor those turbo work best with a 1.8l motor. but what ever you want.. 1

Re: help with my 92 ka-t project!!
You never want backpressure....
Most KA-T downpipes are custom made. Even ont he SSAC bottom mount manifolds, the SR downpipe never really fits up exactly.. Soem people say that it is a couple inches short and hits the body...Then it fits on others. So its a toss up. Fabbing a downpipe is pretty easy tho...

some people say backpressure is need others say its not, i guess it depends on your setup.

Re: help with my 92 ka-t project!!
depends on your setup for sure but the ka runs better with more backpressure relative to other engines. as far as i know, and like cory has said before, the ssac manifold has been used by guys running fairly high boost and have held up.. so thats a plus: cheap and works. for the downpipe, find someone who does metalwork and they'll figure it out for you. custom downpipes are probably the most popular way to go

Re: help with my 92 ka-t project!!
Backpressure is NEVER good! On any setup when trying to obtain power!!! How can you flow more air through your engine if you have something keeping air from getting out..???
Anyone who says it is good is clearly in need of an education...!!

god not this argument again. fanatic that is true for dyno-ing at max power but for driveability around town a little backpressure helps you out down low in the revs... i think....

Re: help with my 92 ka-t project!!
and ssac sucks balls. Dont bother. Go big or go home. Quality is key. I dont care if its cheaper, thats like if walmart started selling a turbo kit for our car, thats great but you wont see me with a "tuned by walmart sticker" on my car. Pay the price for good shit, cuz most the time its worth it. Just make sure its reputable.
if there's a number of people that say there shit cracks and breaks, then most of the time i block that company out for-ever. You know, i dont think hks or whoever the hell else got as big ass they are selling cheap cracking mani's and what not..... anyways yea, most the shit is custom for this engine. I would look into a place that makes there own mani's and dp's and use whatever turbo they regularly use. Or you gotta go custom like stated. Either way is good. and the back pressure may help out in low revs, but who the hell cares, its not like your not going to get up to speed......less restriction the better.

ITs false. The only thing that helps anything is exhaust velocity. Smaller diameter tubing promotes high exhaust velocity at lower flow rates(lower RPM) with no restriction. But past 3000rpm, it just restricts.. Get over it and run 3" turbo back... You don't need to make power under 3000rpm...

i still say ditch the t25 and go big t3/t4 or t04, ka24 is a big motor it can handle it. 1

Re: help with my 92 ka-t project!!
yea exactly fanat. Its not like your not going to be able to drive the car because your back pressure isnt there lol. Your still going to get up to speed from a light a-ok.
and also i thought 3" cat back was even found to not effect NA setups either on the low end......so might as well do it regardless....plus you'll be turbo anyways so you wouldnt have to worry about the loudness of a 3" on a NA car. I say 3" is the minimum.
