Simple Question About Fluid Specs
Hey, this question is for a friend of mine. She has a 00 vitara and recently took it to a shop to have the trans flushed. They told her they couldn't do it because they didn't know what kind of fluid it took. I am assuming it is just an ATF. I can't imagine it is something different, but for peace of mind can someone give me the specs on that (fluid type and amt). If you can for both the man and auto. Thanks.

Re: Simple Question About Fluid Specs
I think the best suggestion would be to find a different shop. I'm not entirely sure what fluid it takes, but i think I'd make an effort to have a reference manual lying around, were I running a transmission shop.

As Sean said, take it to a different shop. Even if they didn't know, how hard would it be for them to call a Suzuki dealer and find out. Obviously, they are too stupid or too lazy. I wouldn't trust them with my vehicle. Anyways, the auto's take DextronIII. I think the manuals take gear oil, like a 80W90. The owners manual will tell you all this. There is a fluid and specification chart I think towards the back of the manual. I don't have any owners manuals on hand, and my Suzuki techs are all gone right now.
