Golf GTI mk 3 audio install problem

hi guys need some advice, when trying to install my amp i've found it really difficult to find a gap to get the power lead from the engine bay in through the dash.

Is running the power lead under the car rather the through the car a better option and then feeding it in through boot.

or is there a hole i'm missing
