9 hours and 1 sleepless night later...
I got my very own Xbox 360.
I get out of class around 2:30 and go over to Wal-Mart to ask them what the deal is. There have been people at the store since 5 am waiting to get a 360. Well I didn't plan on this because I was going to go home and come back around 6 or 7. That wasn't go to be the case so I go and get in line. I was the 10th person. So I wait...and wait...and wait...and wait...bathroom break...and wait...and wait...and wait...and wait...and wait...bathroom break...and wait...and wait...and wait...hmm Subway sounds good...and wait...and wait...and wait...and wait...and wait...another bathroom break...and wait...and wait...and wait...until FINALLY... It's 10 with two hours until they can sell us the system so they hand out the little cards saying what number in line we were. After that I go running around the store, mainly nose around electronics and talk with some people about the games and everything. Got Call of Duty 2 myself. I then go and park my car really close to the store. The store was only getting 26 systems and there were over 30 people there. Somebody was going to probably be pissed and I didn't want to fight the assholes all the way out to my car. Midnight hits and everybody gets in line to get theirs. Midnight rolls by and they still can't sell them. Aparently, Microsoft controled the computers which sold the systems. Maybe it was Wal-Mart and Microsoft told them. Anyway, after they gave the go ahead, every single computer of every single store in the central time zone could sell when they said to. I wait a little and finally get my 360. I go to pick it up and nearly fall over. The box is small but this damn has to be over 10 pounds. I get home around 1 in the morning. I get everything out and hooked up and am playing Call of Duty 2 by 1:30 in the morning. Once it gets to be 3 in the morning though my eyes are so bloodshot I can hardly see, my body aches, I'm hungry, thirsty, and very tired.... so I play for another 30 minutes or so then finally go to bed. So after going through all of this, would I do it again if I could? HELL YES!!! P.S. If you think I'm an idiot, have no life, and am very stupid, I got two words for ya, fuck you!

I don't think you're any of the things that are in your "PS"; however I do not, at all understand the necessity of having something the moment it's available. Why? Bragging rights? Who cares, you can get it later this week without pissing away 1/2 a day.

Re: 9 hours and 1 sleepless night later...
I personally would not have been standing in line, but to each his own. I was at Best Buy at 6 pm last night, and it was raining, and 10 people were already standing in line. Best Buy opens at 10 am.

That is really sad. I'm sorry, but I was a witness to all those people waiting outside of bestbuy and walmart. I just wanted to drive by and throw eggs at the poor losers waiting to pay $400+ on a gaming system with games. If it was worth it to you, then so be it. Me personally, hell no. I would rather save my money to restore my GTO.

Re: 9 hours and 1 sleepless night later...
I've heard of someone paying more than $3,000 for the system and 2 games or whatever...I don't understand how someone could pay that much for a videogame system....
maybe its just me but I don't get it

Re: 9 hours and 1 sleepless night later...
Damn dude, sounds exactly like my day. Got out of school at 12:45, headed over to a 24 Hour Walmart and got in line at 1:30. I was #25. That's right, 24 people waited at least 12 hours for an Xbox.
It was actually a lot of fun, I had a ton of friends and my sister to hang out with. Around 7 I went out and smoked with a few of my friends so that made it even better. They had 32 premiums and 16 core altogether. The last person to get in line for a premium got there at 2:30, the last person to get a core got there at 6:30. One guy paid $100 for a spot in the 'core' line. Also met a pretty cool guy there, we swapped emails so we can swap gamertags. All in all it wasn't too bad of a way to spend 12 hours (and $400).

Re: 9 hours and 1 sleepless night later...
NICE! if i haven't already spent more than my budget getting a new system for my car, i'd be on that line. Still, i'd like to think i might see it under the tree, but i doubt it. Call of Duty, eh? I'd be torn b/w that and Perfect Dark Zero

Did you get the "good" bundle ($400) or the "shitty" bundle ($299)?
