Numerous Amp and Sub issues

I have numerous problems that im all stumped about.

My setup is a Sony Xplod amp that does 200 rms @ 4ohms on 2 channels or 500 rms @ 4ohms bridged. Subs are 2 Infinity 1040's. I have them hooked up to each channel so im not bridging them. Im running 8 gauge Streetwire, and have a sorta crappy looking sealed sub box.

1st problem subs get power fine but i was having a connection problem with the RCA plugs. The plug actually got the wire pulled out of it so its shot and i need new wire. Problem is that with the 1 plugged in i still have the subs working as if the other plug didnt even matter and i dont understand why.

2nd problem is with the one wire not working how do i know both subs are working. Yes they both have power. I unplugged the one speaker wire from the amp to teh sub box and the sub still had power. How is that possible? Its not like have the wires inside the box interconnected or anything weird.

3rd problem is i get massive rattling. My old system i had 2 100rms subs bridged and got no rattling so i realize im twice the load rms wise but even if turn the subs down a lot as soon as i get any noticeable base i hear massive rattling.

you need a new RCA cable.

the rattling is an effect of the bass. get some dynamat or equivalent.

i dont know why they still work with only one channel, but they do.

Re: Numerous Amp and Sub issues

um i bet your sub box isn't vented, so im gonna also bet only 1 sub is powered and the other one is just moving from the force of the air inside the box, i doubt their both being powered

Its got venting. I have that theory 2 bout only 1 sub working, only its pretty damn loud for 1 sub and if thats the case holy shit. I do actually have a 10" ported box laying around and i think im going to take 1 sub out of the big box and just hook up the one and see what it does.

Re: Numerous Amp and Sub issues

Even if the box was vented or ported and one sub had power and the other one didn't and you crank it up,they both are gonna move anyways, unless the box had a "divider".You want to really find out if both have power?Crank it up,now use your balance on your head unit,go left to right, right to left.

Re: Numerous Amp and Sub issues

you had to have wired something together to get both of them working, or maybe left loose wiring that is connecting it now, same thing happened to me but in reverse and blew my two back speakers because of the way the wiring was, so now i have front speakers and sub

That cant be though because of the divider the wires cant be touching each other.
