Have a 95 Toyota Avalon, problem is the speedometer is jumping. The problem is a little more serious, another symtom is that as im driving the car pops out of gear momentarely and then jumps back in, car jerks for a couple of seconds and goes back to normall. Sometimes the speedometer needle stays at zero and the gas pedal seems to get heavier. Check engine light came on and gave me a P0500, & P0720 diagnosis reading. So I went ahead and changed the vehicle speed sensor and the problem was gone for a couple of days and then it came back. Then i had the problem checked by a mechanic and actually had the transmission overhauled about 3 weeks ago. The problem went away untill the first week when it came around again, now the mechanic is telling me that i need to change the speed sensor again. Im baffled by this problem.
