DSM???

OBD-II code 1537 - Intake Manifold Runner Control Open (Bank 1). I don't what DSM means however.

There are 2 intake path controls. At about 3500 RPM or so they open to enable a shorter path for the incoming air charge. One of yours seems to be stuck in the open position. Do a search under IMRC. There should be lots of information. In a lot of instances the fault is due to a simple nylon washer.

I believe they are spring loaded open & close as engine speed & temperature increase. One of my actuators cracked & leaked vacume so I plugged the vacume line & hay wired it closed. Ford wants about $200 just for the part. I have not seen any differance in performance (been 2 or 3 years), but the service engine light stays on.
Regards
