1998 Grand Prix SE 3.1L
Car won't start. Problem began as intermittantly dying when pulling up to stop light. Progressed to final breath and towed home. Have tried replacing fuel filter, plugs, plug wires, computer, ingnition control module, EGR valve, Starter moter, because dealer suggested. Car has been on engine diagnostic computer twice, once at dealer and once in an idependent garage. Neither showed a problem.

Good idea to check basics such as fuel and spark. For fuel check fuel pressure at the injector rail. For spark it could be the 24X crankshaft position sensor (CKPS) since just about everything else was changed. ![]() Thrasher CAI, DHP v1.0 PCM, SLP Headers, 3.25 SC pulley, CAIT GMAF, 2.5 DP/Hi-Flow CAT, u-bend delete, 160 TS, ZZP Stage 1 72mm TB, TB spacer, MSD 8.5mm wires, Autolite 103, Goodyear Gatorback Serp. & SC Belt, Nitto NT555R Drag Radials 1/4 ET: 13.210 sec. @ 104.490 mph 0 - 60 ft: 1.945 sec.

Re: 1998 Grand Prix SE 3.1L
Don't have car in my possession yet expect to have in about a week. I've been told that it cranks but won't fire. All I really know is what I'v told you so far. I would have expected the dealer to look at the fuel and sensor. Are they not smart or what? I'll check the two items you suggested as soon as I have the car.
Thanks |
