Engine Swap Help!

Ok, heres the thing... I have a 87 CRX 1.4 Carb... I found a car in my area that is a 4th gen or 5th gen civic.. that tree fell on it and the guy is looking to get rid of it for like dirt cheap. the thing is I want to make sure that the engine will swap before I get it.. any one know where I can get a list of engines that it will hold and all that Im going to need to do get get it to work...

Thanks guys J...
PS the engine is fine.. but the cab had a tree fall on it and crush it like a coke can..

Re: Engine Swap Help!

you won't be able to swap it without an expensive mounting kit. the only bolt in motors will be 84-87 civic/CRX stuff and if it's carb stick with carb, much easier then messing with wiring harnesses and whatnot.

Re: Engine Swap Help!

It's more effort than it's worth.

If you looking for a project swap, then go for a B-series or a D16A1/ZC1. The D16A1 or ZC1 motors will drop right in without much modification, and there are motor mount kits available for the B-series.

All conversions are doable if you have the ability, time, money and are prepared to do some fabrication skills. Somewhere in my picture file I have some of a mount built that can be adapted to almost any configuration. It is made from billet aluminun. Just can't remember off hand which engine into which car.

But the mount issue is the biggest problem. Axles can be made up in almost any configuration. Try raxles.com JS

You use the ZC mounts on the tranny and rear. On the timing side mount you use the CRX mount. It will foul the timing cover somewhat and you can either cut the plastic cover or shave some of the CRX mount to make it fit. I will hopfully be trying to rejig something better for this down the road but at the moment on the bottom of my to do list.

Wiring is a different story. You will have to do some research there as there are a few differences that need to be added in. It is a bit easier if you use an Integra harness. JS
