putting a whole game on computer ?

my computer's CD drive seems pretty screwed, it doesn't like to read CDs an does stuff like make annoying noises and tell me there's no CD in there when i've put one in. it's screweing up gameplay because sometimes it just stops reading the CD randomly in the middle of a game.

so, here's my queston: can i put ALL the data from that CD onto my hard-drive, so i can play the game without the CD in the drive, so the computer runs the enitre game without needing a CD ? if so, how can i do this ?

thanks in advance guys,

Chris.

probably not since it's more than likey copyright protected. Don't know if there's such a thing as a ripper for software as there is for audio.

Re: putting a whole game on computer ?

I'm sure there's many, many people out there that would love this info... Gimme a while, I'm checking with a mod to see if its ok to post. Although it's not illegal, I do not want to cause any trouble.

Re: putting a whole game on computer ?

Ok, I just got the Ok...

There are two ways around this.

1. Get a Virtual CD program. This is where you can actually put the entire CD on the PC, and it will run as such.

Or,

2. Just look for a No-CD patch for the game. What this does is re-writes the executable file to not look for the CD.

By doing 2, some features of the game may not work.

I will not go into details on where to find the NO-CD patch, but can easily be found by a quick Google.

when using the virtual CD program, do you ahve to copy over the entire CD or how does that work?
