Re: Wont start

Did you put the spark plugs back in the right order? Or is the CEL light on?

Re: Wont start

before doing anything to a car that cranks and doesnt start, the, fundamental things to check is spark, fuel, ignition timing, and cam timing.

Re: Wont start

check ignition timing with a timing gun and make sure it is within specs.

as for cam timing, make sure cam gear is at TDC with the camshaft.

as for spark, check the spark plugs to see if they are recieving spark.

as for fuel, check to see fuel pump primes and injectors are working. check fuel pressure are within specs.

If there is no spark, then the main suspects are the coil, distributor cap and rotor. But you changed the cap and rotor, so I would check the coil. The coil not working right can cause the gas smell, because it's not sparking enough to combust all the gas.
