Thanks!! Very interesting! I am glad I run Mobil1 synthetic and a Mobil1 filter!! But I couldnt tell if he thought synthetics should be changed evey 3,000 miles even though they are rated for 15,000 miles?? (I use 5W-30 Mobil1 EP (extended Performance). I may drop back to regular Mobil1 Synthetic

Apparently Mobil 1 5W30 Extended Performance doesn't meet GM spec 4718M regarding synthetic oils or the ILSAC GF4 specification but Mobil 1 5W30 does. This from the Mobil website.

I run Mobil 1 5W30 in my truck and change it when the oil life computer brings up the message to change it or 200 engine hours whichever comes first.

Well, I have run the EP for 3,000 miles. I need to change to regular Mobil1 synthetic (NOT E.P.) now what the heck do I do with the 6 quarts of Mobil1 EP I bought?? I don't have my autozone receipt

Thanks for the headsup.

Quote from Mobil1:
"Mobil 1 Extended Performance products contain 50 percent more SuperSyn, 37 percent more cleaning agents, and 36 percent more anti-wear additives than Mobil 1."

Well, My motor ought to be clean by now!!
