89 limited 4x4, the right signal dash indicator always get stuck or lit up. I changed the bulb but it did not help.
Also when headlights are on; when I turn off the jeep and take the keys out, the headlights are still lit? hmmm? |

Re: 89 cher ltd right signal arrow getting stuck
Do you turn the lights off AFTER you turn off the key? If so, the headlights are on a timer that keeps them on after you turn the key off. This is a safety feature.
Do your right signal lights work OK? It's just the dash light problem? What about on Hazard? |

No, after I turn off the key [pull it out of the stem], headlights is still on. Is there a switch for this to toggle on/off? Yes and no, once I turned on the headlights, the green right arrow is lit. I can use the signal, it does blink to the right when used. The parking light feature does not work, it is not lit when all the lights are on. How do you correct dash light problem? Hazard works good. |

Re: 89 cher ltd right signal arrow getting stuck
So, you rurn the lights off first, then the ignition, remove the key and your headlights are still on? If so, you have a short somewhere. How do you get your headlights to turn off?
Does your flasher get brighter when your signals are on? If so, then the bulb may have slipped out of the socket behind the gauge. Your seeing the light from the gauge lights. If not, it may be related to the short. You fix them by getting a good multimeter and start tracing wiring. Or find someone else who can. |

My 92 Cherokee has "Delayed OFF" on the headlights - the headlights stay on for a couple of minutes if they are NOT turned off before turning off the ignition. If I turn the lights off FIRST, then the ignition, lights stay off. Take Care,

Re: 89 cher ltd right signal arrow getting stuck
As does mine, you must shut them off before turning off the engine or they will stay on. Unless possibly he is doing this and that relay/timer circuit is malfunctioning.

You can also check the bulb housing for the front turn signal. My 87 was doing the same thing and I pulled the lens, removed the bulbs and looked at the bulb housing. Turns out the housing was rusted and not letting the bulb ground properly and cousing the same symptoms. I replaced the bulb housing and the lights all work fine now. Only $10 or less at the auto parts store. The Ford ones are a suitable substitute, just splice which ever one you get into the original wires.
