4x4 trouble codes
hello everyone
recently had trouble with the 4x4 on my 94 blazer. had to replace the transfer case shift motor. After I did that the damn still wont shift. It gives me a code 1 (ram standby power fault)when I pull the codes. Does anyone know what this means and were do I go from here? Any help on this issue would be greatly apprieciated, its very difficult to get this kind of info anywhere, thanks

Re: 4x4 trouble codes
Code 1 is a circuit fault if I'm not mistaken.. Code 1s can be caused by a burnt fuse I know, as well as clearing the codes (ie disconnecting your battery), but I don't know what (if any) "more serious possibilities" there are for a code 1.

thanks for your feedback Cailen, do you have any info as to were I should start, I can here the module clicking, the light on the switch flashes but it still wont disengage from 4hi. Were do I start checking as to what the problem might be. I can not find any info on this anywere, no schematics, no troubleshooting sequences or any other info other than to r&r parts. Someone on these forums must have a dealer servvice manual with this info. Any help to a poor working man would be enormously appreiciated

Re: 4x4 trouble codes
Assuming you checked for a burnt fuse you could start where I did and check the fluid level. The separator seal between my tcase and transmission is allowing for fluid to slowly leak between the two, overfilling the tcase. There are two plugs on the tcase, the lower being the drain plug and the upper being the fill. You'll want your truck to be level when you check that fill plug. Fluid should be at the hole, and no more than a quarter inch below.
Is the shift motor the "encoder/position motor" or the vacuum actuator motor (only know them by those names, sorry). If it's the latter, try disconnecting your negative battery terminal for a few minutes. This will allow your encoder motor to reset, and may allow you (like it did me) to get back in to 2hi. I'll do a bit more research today and try and offer you some other possibilities. Just out of curiosity, you aren't using your 4x4 on pavement are you? It's not good to do so.

Re: 4x4 trouble codes
thanks again for your time Cailen, oil level is good, the moter that I had repaced is the encoder position motor. Wont be able to try to reset the system until tomorrow morning. Anything else that you can dig up would interest me greatly.

Re: 4x4 trouble codes
I see a lot of posts about shift problems with the electronically controled transfer cases, but there seems to be very little solid info on these systems. I would buy a dealer manual on this vehicle myself if I was to keep it but the vehicle is sold and I have already spent too much money on this thing already. There must be someone out there that knows what a code 1 (ram standby power fault) means and how to troubleshoot for that code. Please help

Re: 4x4 trouble codes
Sorry this one slipped past me man. I think this may be what you're looking for:
http://members.troublecodes.net/crunch/code1.pdf ***TO FIX THE TCCM*** The TCCM is located behind the glove box, and is accessed from underneath the dash. To remove, the kick panel and black cover come off. Then a 1/4" screw holds the "brains" in the dash. The middle computer is the Truck's brain, the one on the backside is the TCCM, and on the front is the small ABS computer. Simply loosen the 2 10mm nuts on each side, and they will separate. Thanks to the original posters of this information.
