Universal Oxygen Sensor Replacement

2001 Passat 1.8 L turbo, old body style(B5), 120k. I bought a Universal Oxygen Sensor (Bosch) to replace my original.
The problem is, the replacement has 4 wires, the original has 5. Any thoughts on if I can use this sensor. I hate to have to use the more expensive sensor, if I don't have to.

Pitch it in the trash can and go get a OEM type sensor.
The universal will give you all kinds of problems.
