Re: Emissions problem w/JRSC
evap what? as for the o2 sensor and cat. if you reset the cel and it comes back on your just going to have to replace it. as far as passing emmissions with a cel on, its an automatic fail.

Re: Emissions problem w/JRSC
well, if there are no CELs, and you are still recieving readiness fails, then, you need to drive the car more before testing for emissions. the emmissions are looking for the "readiness" moniters to set. do not reset the ecu at any time. they are waiting to be set, not cleared. if there are no specific codes goingoff keeping the readiness monitors from running, just keep driving and then take it back to emissions. most techs will tell you to drive it between 25 - 75 miles, but, just drive it for a few hundred miles under different load conditions to see if any CELs are thrown. if not, retake it back to emmissions. if you recieve thesame problem, swap out the ecu.
also, if the backup fuse for the ecu is blown, you will have the ecu resetting on you every singletime the car is turnedoff. it will lead to readiness not ready.

Completing the Drive Cycle successfully one time should reset most drive cycle monitors to a "Ready" status. However, there are "two trip" monitors, which require that the drive cycle be successfully completed two times, to achieve a "Ready" status. Furthermore, systems which use averaging, may require the drive cycle to be completed more than 2 times.
The vehicle should be driven approximately 7.5 miles within a period of approx. 23 minutes from a cold start. However, due to manufacture variations, it is necessary to perform only as much of the Drive Cycle as is necessary to reset the required monitors to a "Ready" status. Operate the throttle smoothly to obtain best results. Do not shut the engine off during the drive cycle. Now, if you want to force it through drive cycles, there is a nice little list of things you can do. |
