Toasting Starters

I have a 98 k1500 and I'm on my 5th starter in less than 2 years. The solenoid is what's going out on me, but the solenoid is on the starter. The battery is a fairly new Optima Yellow Top. I purchased a Mean Green Starter about 6 months ago and it went out on me today. Any ideas why I keep toasting starters?

Re: Toasting Starters

Did you replace the heat sheild when you did the starter or did you leave it off? Heat is a starters worst enemy, other than an already spinning flexplate!!!
