clutch problems, what have I done
84 S-10 2.8/ T5
Ok the old clutch was bad, real bad when I finally got it out, but it would still drive and engage and disengage OK lots of slip from 3 up though.
I replaced to flywheel, clutchplate, and pressure plate, never opened the wet system at all. Put it all back together and now the pedal goes to the floor and never disengages the clutch plate. I checked the slave travel though the inspection hole and found that the fork and through out do not stay in contact with the pressure plate. when the pedal is depressed to slave pushes the fork forward and the bearing just bearly engages to pressure plate enough to spin the bearing, but not disengage to clutch. I can move the fork with my fingers about 1 to 1 1/2 inchs with out touching th epressure plate, so it does not stay in contact with the slave or the pressure plate. What did I do wrong. Someone mentioned possible putting the clutch plate in backwards, I don't think I did this, but you never know, would that cause the problem. I never opened to wet system, just removed to slave from the tranny, so I can't imagine thats the problem since it work 8 hours prior to my starting this project. HELP PLEASE.
