6cyl swap

ok, me and my roomate were arguing about our dream cars(which one would win) his is a supra and mine a gsx spyder (i know the gsx spyder dont exist but anyways) no way the gsx could take the supra 340 vs 210.
so i was wondering, is it possible to swap for the 6cyl mivac thats in the 06 clipse. and i dont mean possible in some evil genious mechanic garage cause i know that almost anything is possible., but i mean practically

Re: 6cyl swap

I think his supra would win. If you mod it then you might have a chance but Supra's are powerful and also have lots of aftermarket parts so they can reach high HP levels easily.

Re: 6cyl swap

save the money from the swap and mod the gsx engine. with $1000 - $2000 you can easily be doing 12's.

Re: 6cyl swap

Why would your dream cars be stock? I dont think a V6 swap is even close to realistic especially one of those. The engine would cost a crap load more than your car is worth and shoe horning it into your engine bay wouldnt be fun, plus you would have to work on it once its in there. Not to be a dick, but how would any of us know if it could practically get in there, it hasnt been out for very long.

Re: 6cyl swap

I think the question would be why? Say you buy a spyder for 10k (a 99 or so) then a GSX drivetrain for like 2 or 3. You're talking 13k tops. That would buy you half a supra. Now spend another 13k to equal prices out and you have a 10 second (or so) GSX Spyder without any goofy MIVEC V6 wasting space in the engine bay. Sheps car has now run 7s so I don't think there is any real reason to change engines.

Re: 6cyl swap

As far as I'm concerned, it's *all* about the 4g63. A 6-bolt swap makes the most sense, and you already have a few stroker options, or high-rev blocks from SBR and several other places. AWD Spyder converions have been done before, and as much as people love AWD, I believe that a well built FWD TRE tranny with an LSD and good launch technique would work fine too. Throw in a good turbo for your needs with adequate A/F management, I'll throw my money on that Spyder. There's no need to do any other engine swap, unless you want to be different for the sake of it. People do swaps when their stock motor can't handle more power, or if it's cheaper to do the swap than to actually upgrade the existing motor. Besides a 6-bolt, I'd put nothing else in my car MIVEC or no mivec

for people that like posts in PLAIN ENGLISH:

wut= what

u = you

USE PROPER GRAMMER PEOPLE! you saved a whole 3 letters that time. so typing at what, 60 words per minute that's about a word per second and since that would have been 2 seconds, you therefore saved approximately 3/7ths of a second of typing. that's got to be in the record books!

Re: 6cyl swap

don't even start buddy. it's in the rules and regulations. read them and follow them.

6)Spelling... if you are going to type up a post and expect people to reply and know what you are talking about then spelling and grammer is a must! we are not really picky but if you do type as if you have certain way of talking and somone either bashes you or cant understand what you are tring to say, do not get mad about it!
