2000 tdi shaking

my tdi will shake from the engine while im driving. it more like rocks like im lifting the gas pedal up and down repetedly. its a noying cause it wont do it for a week or so then just suddenly do it, or do it real bad then just stop. and it dosent matter if its cold or not. help!
