Re: no heat
When you start the car cold and take off the radiator cap, wait until the temp gauge go's to normal, do you see coolant flowing? Did you purge air from the system when you filled up coolant?

does the temperature of the car itself come up like normal? If so, to me it sounds like more of a problem with the heater core and climate control system. What led you to replace the radiator, etc???

to clarify, remember that under the dash are a series of actuator motors that move plastic gates that divert/mix air. This whole item is called the blend box. One gate can block off air coming blowing across the heater core. That's how the climate control works, by mixing air blowing across heater core and across evaporator, getting the right temperature. It's possible that the gate is stuck shut that allows air to come from the heater core.
Thre reason I ask if the car can maintain normal operating temperature is that if coolant isn't flowing, I would eventually expect the car to overheat. If that's the case, since you already replaced the radiator and thermostat, the water pump itself may not be working. ...just a few thoughts |

Re: no heat
hi zimaad, the radiator was leaking on one side, the seam blew out when i had the rad pressure checked. Also to comment on your last reply thanks i was not aware of the sequencs of ops and some of the terminology. The air does mix between the floor and vent depending on the speed i am traveling,or how the accelerator is pressed this happens in both heat and cool and happens on its own.the cooling is not ggreat either. do you know of any websites that could offer a schematic so that i can try to diagnose.
thanks. |

The best thing to get is a factory service manual. What I do is use alldatadiy.com You pay yearly for an online subscription to the service manual. It's like $20 or $25 for the first car and like $12 if you add a second. I realize it'd be better to just get a CD of the manual...cheaper too, but I just haven't. They have diagrams and step by step instructions on repairs. It's worth it to save time in my opinion.
The amount of air blowing shouldn't depend on your acceleration, but how much you turn the knob to adjust amount of air. Is something wrong with the blower maybe? Are you getting any codes? |
