Question 94 town car key switch

We're trying to replace the key switch in our '94 Lincoln Town Car as the keys keep falling out of the ignition, and can't figure out how to get the old one out of the steering column. We've had it all apart and know it must be obvious, but can't figure out what's holding it in there. Can anyone give us a suggestion? Thanks!

Let's first assume you've removed the two screws that hold the lock onto the steering column.

After that's done, the switch must be in the RUN position in order the release from the column and slide out. It will require a bit of jiggling.

Installation is the reverse of removal. The new lock assembly comes shipped in the RUN position (approximately 90 degrees from lock), check to be sure.

Install the ignition switch into the actuator. It may be necessary to move the ignition switch slightly back and forth to align the ignition switch mounting holes with the lock cylinder housing threaded holes.

Re-connect the electrical connector and the car battery. Test the functionality before full assembly of the shrouding.
