Hello... I'm new to this forum... I have a 2001 Impala LS with the 3.8L engine... So far I am very happy with this car... I have a simple question... My headlights seem to be not aimed properly, the right one being higher than the left... I don't see how to adjust the aim of the headlights... I see some sort of screw thing on top of the headlight assembly but I don't know what it is for, if anything... How do I adjust the aim of the headlights?... Thanks...

Re: Headlight Aiming
well that screw thing on top, that is for the vertical adjustment on your headlights. there is NO horizontal adjustment on our headlights, only vertical. there are a lot of instrustions on the proper way to adjust headlights in the manual, like you have to have a level falt surface and be so far a way from a flat wall and measure the distance here, here, and here, and make sure of blah blah blah. but you think you should be able to figure out what you need. if your one headlight is in a good place, just park against a wall or garage door and turn the one that is off until it matches the good one. if you go out driving and its still of to you, just go home and adjust it more until you like where it is. just dont set them too high.

I figured that's what those adjustment screws are for... The screw on the drivers side is a regular philips head... The one on the passanger side looks like some sort of external star or torx with the points sticking out... I suspect one of these assemblies was replaced by the prior owner...I'll try the adjustment later today... I paid the dealer $50 to adjust the headlight aim and they still seem not right... I should take it back to them but that's a PITA... I switched from the stock head lamps to PIAA high intensity lamps... Now I see everything including the mis-aimed light!!
