3000gt N/a vs 300zx turbo

Well here is the situation. I was wondering what yall would think who would win between a stock 3000gt N/a vs a 300zx turbo. I have a 3000gt N/a and im 17 and my dad and i bought a 300zx turbo that needs work. well we are about done with it all it needs is an interior now and my dad wants to race me. He said that i might beable to beat the z but i dont know if he is getting my hopes up or not. the z is an automatic though. and i have a 5spd. just seeing wut yall thing. I will be reacing him by thanksgiving though.

what year is the Z? the 91 and up (Z32) will eat you alive, its a 3.0 DOHC TT, no N/A can compete with that. If its the previous model (Z31) then it all depends on how the motor is running. I raced a Z31 Turbo and killed him but all he had was and intake and cat-back. Now if the car is running tight and he can turn up the boost to like 10 psi then forget it, your toast.

Re: 3000gt N/a vs 300zx turbo

IDK musashi man, not to diss you or n.e. thing, but if that guy had an intake and cat back and you guys went from a dig it should've been even... I guess you're just the better driver... the way I figure it, the 3kgt's engine puts out about 215 HP (I heard mitsu seriously over rated their engines) and the 300zx puts out 205... with intake and catback he should be at about 215 but his car's lighter and it's RWD... than again how many mods did you have at the time???

if your dad has an 80's model z in stock form, you'll have a better chance at him from a roll, but than again you should murder him if it's an auto... either way you should win... but if it's a 90s model twin turbo z, that's like trying to take on a vr4 (yea I know it's not as powerfull)...

Mitsubishi has never over-rated the power output of any car....not even the crappy dodge engined eclipses. the 6G72 puts down 222hp at the crank, prior to 94 they put down 218 but turst me 220-224 every time after 94.
the Z31 also had a heavy as hell engine and crappy drivetrain with a marshmello clutch that seriously injured its power transfer from the crank to the wheels. even if they went from a dig the 3000GT has the edge cause it makes more torque quicker then the 300ZX.

As far as my race with the 300ZX, I had just intake and catback too. same mods as him. we went from a light and I pulled every gear from 1-3 at mid 3 and all through 4th he stayed his ground, didnt gain didnt loose and inch so we leveled out after that and shut down a block later. trust me bro I shift like a grandma, it was all car and no driver.

Now add a 30 dollar manual boost controller and staright-pipe the 300ZX and it will eat any N/A 3000GT.

Re: 3000gt N/a vs 300zx turbo

Its pretty much understood that the 222hp rating was wrong. The guestimate is more around 200-210.

How can that be? I've seen dyno sheets of stock n/a's at 220hp and mine dynoes at 179 at the wheels. wheel hp for a 200 crank hp motor is about 160 at the wheels, and thats on a stock clutch.

Re: 3000gt N/a vs 300zx turbo

you're going to win... if he has filter, MBC, and a 3in exhaust back from the DP (no cats) and it's a cold day, he could potentially boost at 8PSI, and you'd be toast, but if he's stock, I'm giving you the win here
