EGR valve replacement
Hi folks
I took advice on putting in a new egr valve due to pinging knocking. It seemed to solve the problem. After 100 miles or so it was back to doing the same thinkg. Any Suggestions? |

Run a can of seafoam through your system.... After you're done, pull the EGR and clean it out with a wire brush and carb cleaner... Now take a thin screw driver and pick out as much carbon as you can from the manifold side... Run your motor for a couple of minutes without the egr on it and do a few short revs to about 3500-4000 rpms. This will blow out any loose carbon chunks still in there. Put your egr back on. Now pull your both your 1 and 2 plugs and inspect them, how do they look? Are they fouled? If so, replace all your spark plugs if needed... That should take care of you.

Hi Thanks I ran the seafoam through, had a lot of carbon come out. I still think I need to to another run through of it. It is almost running right. Still have a few pings, I am going to change plugs and from there. Once again thanks for info. Paul |

Re: EGR valve replacement
careful, sea foam is great stuff, but has a patrolium distalent in it (as all additives do) which can cause buildup on the intake side of your valves
