Exclamation B16A or B18C

Hey Ya,
I just purchased a 1994 EG6 hatch. I'm planning on a engine swap soon. The weapons of choice: either a B16A or B18C. Which of the two is "overall" the "better bang for your buck" engine??? Meaning, gives you the better response, acceleration, and price. To make this more interesting, I'm willing to spend a maximum of $8,000 for the engine including parts.

Re: B16A or B18C

ok....on the wrong track now....i'm just not the biggest fan of the ls/vtec thing....i guess i forgot to add this...i want my engine to be reliable in the long run also...and from what i know and experience, ls/vtec is not that reliable....to many leaks and problems....like yeah....if its rebuild professionally then yeah...its good...but thats just extra money to make it as fast as just buying a B18C stock...lets just stick with the B18C and B16A

Re: Re: B16A or B18C

To put it simply the b16 is good, the b18 is better (and this coming from a b16 owner). It's better mainly due to the increased displacment and more hp/tq. For around 8gs you can really do a lot. do you want to turbo or stay NA???
Either way with a budget like that you can make one hell of a motor.

well....as for a start, all motor...but my main goal is turbo....but at the same time....all motor is just as good to...because i want to keep the car "street" form....full interior...street tires...and running on pump gas... no NOS....and no supercharger.....hondas dont go good with superchargers...especially B-series engines......

why get another car...when i already got the car i want....like yeah... the 240sx is a great car...had one...but i live in MN...i want a car i can drive all the time....DSMS...naw...aint a big fan of DSMS....my motto is:

"Joing JDM, Leave DSM" no offense to DSM lovers...like yeah...a eclipse is one fast car.....but......i just have a thing with JDM cars......just more reliable...

integra..naw.....a gsr is running like what....at least 15.2 in the 1320... put a B18c in a civic and thats some 14sec times there...for less the price......

for $8k.....a civic is just the car to experience in.....everything from engine parts to suspension parts.......

I'm still not understanding what your trying to say....for what i know... a B18C1 is a vtec motor.....and throwing a vtec head on it???? why???
IT ALREADY IS VTEC?!?!?!?!

sorry...i'm not a ls/vtec fan....like i said before....its just not reliable... just face it.....just to make that ls/vtec run just as good...would cost more than just buying a B18c engine....why waste soo much time to make that ls/vtec run "good".....too many problems....

sr20det huh....first of all..thats a nissan engine.....and to answer your question....its not a dsm....and from what i know....sr20s dont break like dsms.....to my knowledge...the sr20 is one strong engine....475 hp on stock internals....damn.......thats hella good for a inline 4.......BUT on the other hand...lets get back to my question here......
