Your failure was for NOX..or Oxides of Nitrogen
This is caused by excessive combusion chamber temps..I would look at the EGR valve or the passages may be clogged.
EGR reduces NOX

What is it doing now or not doing?
Any check engine lights?
Any stored codes?
Has the fuel pressure been tested?

Re: emissions problems

ok i checked the fuel pressure and it checks out ok,bought a OBD2 code reader and have had it going for about 2 days.it gives p0300randon/multiple cylinder misfire,if i clear it it will give a po301 some times but most of the time will give a po304 cylinder 4 misfire detected.brought it back to dealer who said he will replace the plugs wires, cap and rotor no charge.cause he has no idea what the problem is.thought i was doing good. light came back same thing ,same codes,by now i feel like i have tested or replaced almost every thing.the dealer told me to trade it in.or don't come back cause they just don't know what else to do.they have been good to me,so i don't blame them.just need my van if any advise i do appreciate it,thanks guys

If you want it fixed you need to find a dealer or a good repair shop that knows what they are doing.
Any good tech/mechanic should be able to find a missfire.
Your code reader says missfire. Anyone that knows anything should be able to fix it.
Tips on finding a good repair shop.
Check around Ask around
Word of mouth.
Family friends coworkers neighbors business people and delivery people.
Mailmen and parcel delivery people get around and notice a lot of stuff.
Even a good parts house knows what shops are good and not good.
Chamber of commerce and better business bureau and city hall.
If you find a good referral to a repair shop go look them over and talk to them.
Look for a clean looking busy place with nice people running it.
Ask a few questions and ask about their qualifications and training.
Not all places have trained tech/mechanics.
If they do not find a place that does.
Even all dealers do not have all trained techs/mechanics.

Tip on going to the dealer
Ask that only a factory certified gasoline engine performance specialist work on your car.
Not all dealerships are concerned with how repairs are dispatched, and not all dealership techs bother to take advantage of the training offered by Ford (the vast majority of which is paid training). If the dealer is uncooperative, ask for your money back and call around for a dealer that will accommodate you.
