I'm working on a 93 escort. Initially it was revving at high rpms, light were freaking out, and it was driving weird. Now, i'm getting power to the dash, but the headlights dont work, and the fuel pump wont turn over. Checked resets and fuses under hood, but to no avail. I'm thinking maybe its the ignition control module. any guesses? btw its a 1.9 standard. turns over, just no fuel, but i do have spark.

Get a test light and see if there is any power going to the fuel pump. If not then check the relay. Iguess you have already checked the fuse under the hood. Is there power at the fuse?

Re: 93 escort lx electricity demons
Try the headlights on the brights. Could be both dims burned out at the same time. It happened to me. Did you check the fuel pump intertia switch. It is in the back on the right hand side. I believe it has a small door to get to it. Push the button down to reset.

Re: 93 escort lx electricity demons
well, i'm not really wanting bankruptcy, but still........I noticed under the steering column there is a blu w/white stripe wire. looks like it was some kind of cut out. gonna try that, replace fuel solenoid, check the brights, then that only leaves the computer. Are there any fuses besides the one in the fuse block under the hood, that are on the fuel system on this year car?

Re: Re: 93 escort lx electricity demons
Well, here I am again. Heres the skinny....fuel isnt pumping. also headlights, tail, brake, stereo, interior, hazards and turn signals arent working. But the car will turn over, and the dash warning lights{check engine, oil} come on. replaced a bunch of relays {free} and metered a bunch of stuff. what it seems like to me is that the fuse block {interior} isnt getting power. so i checked at the battery. again I wound up chasing somebody elses ineptitude and found the wiring harness { from negative side of battery} cut. Perhaps its the weird little "thingy" that is on the one battery terminal clamp that has gone bad. what is that thing. going to reconnect wires properly tommorow to see what happens. but I need to know what that thing on the battery terminal cable is.
