Question can you put an impala motor in a 01 malibu ?

I Had the same problem with the coolant leek like everyone else , changed the thermastat , then it was fine . When i decided to go on vacation it got hot on the road and when i opened the hood , the coolant was coming out of the overflow tank cap . Come to find out the seal on the overflow cap was gone . so the motor got extremely hot , after it cooled it started up and was making a horrible scratching sound . So , should i replace the motor or just scrap it ? Has anyone put the impala motor in there malibu ?

Its about sizes, etc. Not the type of car, but the size and displacement of the engine.
