fuel pump problem
I have a 90 Sunfire. Installed 3rd fuel pump recently...each time I replace pump it works for a few months and then fuses start blowing....then eventually I have to replace pump. have replaced relay. Could it be pressure regulator?

Re: fuel pump problem
There are several things that can cause fuel pump failures. If the regulator is causing the pressure to stay too high it can cause premature failure. Second, make sure you don't run the fuel tank too low. Fuel keeps the pump cool and if the tank gets too low then the pump will overheat and draw too much amperage and blow the fuses. Finally, make sure that you aren't getting a lot of water in your fuel. This can cause corrosion and cause the pump to fail. Use a bottle of gas line antifreeze periodically if you believe you have a lot of water in the fuel.

Re: fuel pump problem
Check wiring harness on pump and wires around sounds like may have weak or bad cable causing issue.
Also verify installed properly. |
