new rims

i got a guy whos going to get some rims for me (god only knows where they get half their shit) its a little tire shop that i go to anytime i need a new tire or patch. always had good service there.hell i got a used tire for 25 that looks brand new! i'm not too sure on to how much i trust that their rims are not stolen, people kind of look shady. but hes supposed to find me a pair of 17's (i know laugh it up but i dont feel like hitting the wheel well every time i hit a bump) should i get em anyways if i like the rims? or should i pass? i really dont feel like buying stolen shit for my car. he offered me some other ones for 350 that looked badass with the tires on em . but that was a few weeks ago. i dunno just need someones on the matter.

also if i do get em and they are stolen is it possible that i could get screwed over if shit hits the fan?

If they guy has hooked u up in the past what would be the difference now? And why would we laugh about 17's? And yes you could possibly be screwed for stolen property if it is in fact stolen. However if you explain it to the cops they should just let u go.

well the problem is when i asked him about any rims he had he asked me what i was looking for. then tells me to come back in about 3 days and he'll have some for me to look at. now i'm sorry but how does he know he'll have some rims in 3 days? he isnt goign to go to the store and buy some if he knows i'm just looking right now. thats what kinda pushed me away from the idea.

Re: new rims

Doesnt mean they are stolen. He could have just bought them and said to himself "if he dont buy them someone else will" If you think hes fishy check out the local PD and see if there have been any complaints about stolen rims.

Re: new rims

I'd make an agreement to let you drive on them to highwayy speeds. Alot of times these "cheap " rims have some defects in them. Could possibly be bent enough to not be noticed to the eye, but you'll feel it. No matter how many times you balance them, they will balance but will still have vibs. Tires are only spun to 60mph rating. Test them to atleast 85-90. Trust me on this one!

Re: new rims

Yeah, if you buy something from a business you wont get in trouble if its stolen, just be sure to keep your reciept. I definately agree with CRJ, test them out. I for one would like to see them, you should put up some pics when you get them.
