...a 90 eagle talon tsi. its white, has no rust with low miles. there asking $1995. what should i look out for when checking out the car????

tranny, lifter tick, check oil level and condition. those are some of the main things.

if you want to get serious, take a magnet with you and test it on dsm prone rusting areas. and carfax report.

Lifter tick has no effect on performance of the car. Sure, it gets annoying, but nothing bad can come of it.

See how notchy the tranny is. See is it boosts well. If it's okay with the owner, you could check the turbo shaftplay.

Consumer Reports offers a nice manual on what to check on a used car. I'd head to Borders/B&N and pick it up.

I'd also recommend having a mechanic look at it. If you can't find anything better, Pep Boys has a cheap inspection that they'll perform.

The little money and time invested to check the car out is worth the money.
