6x9 in 2001 Civic Coupe??

My factory pioneer speakers for 2001 Civic coupe just blewout. Oh well, time for some better speakers... Anyways, the original speakers are 6x9s but when I do a websearch for the replacements, most of the websites are not showing 6x9s as a direct replacement. They show something smaller for the rear deck speakers. I would think that I can just buy some 6x9s and stick it in, but can I not put in an aftermarket 6x9s in the OEM openings? Any comments appreciated.

If my memory serves me right, you'll have a depth problem because your trunk springs are almost right under the magnets. You'll need to remove them to put in most speakers, but then yuor lid wont stay up, andit is very heavy. There is a way to adapt those gas struts to take place of the springs. If you're interested, search for it because I know a while ago i posted a link to the original how-to.

Now, if my memory isnt right, and im thinking of a different gerneration, oops. But just look in the trunk and youll see if thats the problem.
