Hard shifting at 1st start
I just bought my 2003 Mazda 6s this last Saturday. Suddenly the weather here in Kansas dropped below freezing. Since the weather change, I've noticed the automatic transmission gives a fairly good jolt the 1st time it shifts from 1st to 2nd gear.
Is this common? This is also the 1st automatic car that I've ever owned. So, I could just be overly ignorant. |

I think my issue was the delayed throttle response during low speed acceleration, but it appears that does not apply to the 2003 Mazda. However, your description sounds exactly like the problem I experienced. |

BTW, I love that website, I found a cargo net, and a few other small items I might purchase for my car. |

Re: Hard shifting at 1st start
Mazda 6's have a very unique fuel/air delivery system and the TB can't always match it so you get very odd shifting when the weather is cold or humid. I've noticed it in mine but it's not something you shoul dbe too concerned with. Just be glad it's not a sloshy shift. It should be firm and smooth.
