Exclamation Clicking after hydrolock

i started my car and while it was idling i heard a loud metalic pop sound and kinda sounded like pieces were flying around near the firewall but the engine ran through it. i then found water in my air filter and my electrodes were wet. compression test showed 1 cylinder down 60psi from the rest and the car vibrates and if i hit the gas, when the rpms come back down it stalls.

the engine is making a clicking with every stroke, doesnt sound much like the usual knock but it seems to be comming from the timing crank area inside the block its self, its comming from the top of both heads also but more pronounced from the crank.

I checked all my valve springs, all lifters are moving like they should
im in the process of getting those subbern exhaust manifold bolts off so i cant drop my oil pan and baffle plate. im not too sure what i should be doing, i guess looking for except side play of piston bearings or obvious damage, i've never done anything like this before.

I was going to say pull the plug at the lower compression hole and see if the car is running the same way, but I guess you are already in a tear-down mode. Are you sure you didn't just blow the head gasket?? Severe compression leak can sound like ticking noise.

Just commenting on your previous thread, you have to pull the head off to take the pistons out, unless you are planning to pull the crank down. Even that, I think it would be a lot easier you pulled the head off anyways.

I think you mentioned that this is a V6 on your previous thread. I am not particulally familiar with a Honda/Acura V6s but old american V8s had crossover intake manifold, meaning if one cylinder was acting up, there was another cylinder on the opposite bank that acted funny, because they were tied through the intake manifold.

IMO I think you should wait to pull the bottom end down. Get it running and just run your hand or piece of paper around head gaskets. If you are lucky and the gasket blew at the side open to the atmosphere, you should be able to feel the air movement. In either case, you have to pull the head off anyways, if there is something wrong with your pistons, so I would start by pulling the head.

Good luck.

Re: Clicking after hydrolock

im pretty sure its not a air leak, its seriously internal, im just asking around because its very pronounced from the crank case, near the crank pully. if it was a knocking i'd have more of a idea what im up against, its just weird cause ive never hear clicking from the crankcase, only from the heads before

Re: Clicking after hydrolock

i think i might just go ahead and order a jdm replacment, im in the processes of seeing if a c27a4 from a 97 accord will replace my c27a. that way ill have plenty of time and space to get her up and running again

Re: Clicking after hydrolock

i just noticed there seems to be oil leaking from the exhaust manifold. its probably got somthing to do with the noise but i dont know if its allways been there... there, the car only ran for like 5 minutes after the hydrolock and i did a compression test twice, its that enough time for a slow oil leak to make it past a touch exhaust manifold gasket???

the oil is mostly at the bolts, the bolts rust has absorbed the oil and are darker now so it leads me to believe it is a new leak, i guess the bolts would leak first since they are the path of least resistance instead of going through the whole gasket. i guess it may be a exhaust valve after all

Re: Clicking after hydrolock

You said you heard something that sounded like metal agains the fire wall? Have you looked to see if you blew you head. It seems like thi'm coming to this conclusion a lot lately with engines on this forums but you may have major internal damage. Have your dropped the oil pan too see if you have metal shavings in it or dropped your lower end?
